The hotel is centrally located which will
allow us to stay here throughout the entire trip.
The resort is situated at the gateway to the Appalachian Trail and is
close to Dahlonega, a famous gold-mining town established in the early
1800’s and host of the Stage arrival on April 25th. The resort has
been nominated as one of the top 100 US Resorts for ten of its 30
years of existence.
We will be staying in a private lodge.
Each room has private bath, and the additional living area, deck, etc.
will provide more room.
Upon
arriving, we will check
in and those riding will assemble bikes, our mechanic will be on hand
to assist those who need a bit of help. Time Allowing, we will then take a
short ride to make sure everything is in proper working condition.
It will
then be time to get together over a welcome toast, do proper
introductions and go over the next few day's fun and action... of
course a nice dinner will follow!

Tour Stage 4 / Road
Atlanta / 10 miles / Team Time Trial |
 |
Our first day on the Tour is a great one
as we will witness the Team Time Trial at Road Atlanta. This will be
the first Team Time Trial of the Tour de Georgia. Always an exciting
and highly anticipated stage, the last significant "race of truth" for
teams was held in the USA at the 1986 World Championships in Colorado
Springs, CO." Teams will go over
the challenging, hilly 2.54-mile, 12-turn Grand Prix track, 4
times.
www.roadatlanta.com
As the stage will start in the early
afternoon, we will have time to ride from our hotel to the Stage
location and witness the event from our own catered spots on the
infield.
At this time we are discussing the
possibility of riding at least one lap of the track with the
organizers.
The ride from the hotel is 50 miles so we
will plan on an 8:30am departure, arriving at Road Atlanta for lunch.
Shorter ride distance will be available.

"It's fun. It's new. It's exciting," says professional cycler
Will Frischkorn, who will compete with Team Slipstream Sports powered
by Chipotle in the Tour de Georgia. "It's something that will
surprise people on how exciting it is because they haven't seen it in
the USA for a long time." |

Tour Stage 5 / Suwanee -
Dahlonega / 125 miles / Mountain Stage |

courtesy of PhotoSport International |
This longest stage of the 2008 Tour
de Georgia is also the first mountain stage and all the contenders to
the Yellow Jersey will need to be in top form today and tomorrow.
Leaving from the hotel we will head South to intersect the stage
route and ride the final miles on course. Once in Dahlonega, we will
be able to access the catered VIP hospitality area to follow the
closed-circuit live TV feed and see the stage arrival.
The ride distance will be determined once the exact stage itinerary
has been released, but we anticipate we will offer 2 ride distance of
about 35 to 60 miles.
We won't be having dinner at our hotel this evening. Instead we
will meet up with the Teams and Tour Organizers for dinner; great
interaction should be expected... don't forget your sharpies and
cameras!

Tour
Stage 6 / Blairsville - Brasstown Bald /
100 miles |

courtesy of PhotoSport International |
Undoubtedly, the major
stage of this year's Tour, stage #6 will end with the grueling climb
to Brasstown Bald (quickly becoming "the Alpe d'Huez of North
America").
This climb is 3 miles in length at an average grade of 10.9% with
the steepest grade reaching 24% at the Brasstown Wall!
We'll obviously be on the climb to catch the action. Better
yet; we'll be riding the final portion of the stage including "the
climb", cross the finish line and be able to climb the podium where
you will be able to have your picture taken. We will then access our
catered VIP hospitality area at the arrival line to see who will be
the fastest on the day and if the Jersey changes hands or not.
Tomorrow is a Criterium type stage, so gaining precious seconds today
could be vital for the best climbers!

Tour Stage 7 / Atlanta - Atlanta /
70 miles / City Circuit race |

courtesy of PhotoSport International |
The final stage is a circuit race and offers a lot of action. In all
likelihood, the Yellow Jersey will have been spoken for yesterday, but
if the race is close enough; who knows!!!
The stage will start at 1:00pm and while we will want to arrive
early and have lunch in Atlanta, there will still be enough time for a
short early morning ride for those who wish. We will then make our way
to Atlanta where we will once again benefit for exclusive and
preferred seating and catering. This is the best place to be as we
will be able to follow the race on TV while the peloton not zooming by
directly in front of us.
The race should end around 3:30pm. We'll allow enough time for the
final ceremony and will then transfer to Atlanta airport. We
anticipate being at Atlanta airport around 5:30pm to bid you farewell.
This timing should enable everyone to take a flight that same evening.
If you wish to spend the overnight in Atlanta, please let us know
and we can arrange lodging and transportation for the next day.
