ITINERARY

- July 22nd -

Hotel location: Alpe d'Huez

We will be picking-up at Lyon airport and will need to do so early in order to make our way to Alpe d'Huez with minimal traffic on the climb. The pick-up will be at 9:00am. There are direct flights from NYC which arrive at 7:05am and a TGV from Paris to Lyon airport which arrives at 8:43am.

Arriving a day prior (or more) and spending some time either in Lyon or Paris would allow you to get over jetlag and make the pick-up time easier on the 22nd. We'll be happy to help with arrival logistics - simply contact us.

- July 22nd -

Our hotel for the next 2 evenings is located in Alpe d'huez itself and we'll be sharing with one of the teams on the evening of the 23rd.

The team should be CSC which mean that we'll be lodging in the same hotel as Julich, O'Grady,  Schleck, Cancellara and the like!

Being on site is a great advantage as the atmosphere all along the climb and in the resort can simply not be found anywhere else.

The hotel itself is one of the nicest in the resort and one that we use every time we visit Alpe d'Huez.

- July 23rd -

What a day this promises to be!!!

Today's stage will finish with the climb to Alpe d'Huez, which is most likely the world's most famous cycling climb.

A win on Alpe d'Huez is every cyclist's dream.

This is also the final high-mountain stage of the 2008 Tour de France and THE stage all the riders have already marked on their calendar as it will also feature the climb to the Col du Lautaret/Galibier and the col de la Croix de Fer (2 monuments of cycling) prior to arriving at the base of Alpe d'Huez.

You will be in Alpe d'Huez to witness history in the making.

Given the hotel's location you will be able to see the entire village being setup to host the stage arrival before making your way to our private Chalet located on switchback #2 (second to last switchback).

The views from this location are second to none anywhere on the climb to Alpe d'Huez.

Here you  will be able to see from the Village of Huez up to our location and enjoy a BBQ lunch with beverages throughout the afternoon.

The Publicity Caravane will go by our Chalet about one hour before the first riders contending for the win do the same!

As mentioned, the evening will be spent in the same hotel as one of the teams!

It's 1:00am the night prior... what are the Dutch up to?

View from the chalet over switchback #2.... not in the summer!

- July 24th -

Hotel location: Vichy

Tour Stage 18  /   Bourg d'Oisans - Saint Etienne  /  197km (122 miles)

As the Tour leaves the Alps, so will we. Today's stage leaves from Bourg d'Oisans which is conveniently located at the base of the climb to Alpe d'Huez.

A stop at the start of the race is therefore almost mandatory.

Starts offer great opportunities for pictures and to get closer view of  the teams and racers warming up (autographs as well?).

Once the peloton is off, we will make the drive to our next destination and hotel; Vichy

- July 25th -

Hotel location: Vichy

Tour Stage 19  /   Roanne  -  Montlucon  /  163km (101 miles)

The peloton will be riding over a realtively flat stage today so there will be the option of either, staying in Vichy and catching up on some shopping, visiting or simply enjoying a bit of R&R. OR paying a visit to the Tour:

The stage details have not yet been released, but as Vichy is located roughly  halfway between Roanne and Montlucon, there should be an option to catch up with the race at a  Feedzone.

Vichy is a very nice Spa town know for its sparkling waters such as Perrier or Vichy Celestin. In the 17th century the Marquise the Sevigné visited the city to receive treatment and thus started it's popularity. Louis the XV, Louis XVI and then Napoleon would visit Vichy - adding to its notoriety.

- July 26th -

Hotel location: Paris

Tour Stage 20  /  Cerilly  - Saint Amand Montrond  /  53km (34 miles)

We will make our way to Saint Amand Montrond where the contenders for the Yellow Jersey will have one last opportunity to battle for precious seconds.

The 2008 location of the Time Trial is very remote and while our hotel is ideally located to get access to the stage, heading to Paris in the evening will require a late drive ; in order to enjoy all the time trial action, we will reach Paris by bus tonight

- July 27th -

Hotel location: Paris

Tour Stage 21  /   Etampes  - Paris Champs-Elysees   /  143km (89 miles)

This is what every professional cyclist aspires to; the arrival of the Tour de France on the Champs-Elysees!

Who will be wearing yellow on the Champs Elysees tonight? We will find out today as we watch the arrival from the side of the "World's prettiest Avenue".

Once the Tour festivities are over, we will get ready for a great dining experience. This year again we will be renting an entire boat for our dinner-cruise along the Seine river. Great food and unbelievable sight-seeing of Paris by night will end our “sensory overloaded day”!!!

Our hotel is located within walking distance of the Champs Elysees, the Grand stands and the dinner cruise.

Our position as Official Tour Operators for the Tour de France, allows us to offer seating in the Official Grand Stand seating alongside the Champs-Elysees as an option.
